BMW E39 5 Series Wheels

The E39 5 Series is widely regarded as the best-executed sedan BMW ever built -- the generation with the near-perfect balance, the hydraulic steering that defines the marque, and the chassis that automotive journalists still cite as the benchmark for steering feel and ride quality. The standard E39 -- 520i, 523i, 525i, 528i, 530i, and 540i -- uses a 5x120 bolt pattern with a 74.1-millimeter center bore, the same architecture as the M5 but with different offset requirements. The factory wheels were 15-inch through 17-inch cast units, with 18-inch on the 540i sport package. A forged monoblock wheel set upgrades the unsprung mass while preserving the E39's legendary ride character.

The E39's fitment requires precision offset that accounts for the double-wishbone front suspension and the integral-link rear suspension, both of which constrain the wheel clearance envelope. The 540i with its V8 and sport package brakes demands more caliper clearance than the six-cylinder models. Our offset is measured on a real E39 540i chassis through the full steering and suspension range, with the correct 74.1-millimeter hub bore for hub-centric fitment. No spacers. No centering rings.
