Spec E46 is one of the most popular amateur road racing classes in North America -- a spec series built around the E46 328i where the chassis is locked to a strict rulebook and the margin is found in setup, weight, and driver skill. In a spec class, unsprung weight is one of the few variables the rules allow the competitor to control. A forged monoblock wheel set drops 3 to 4 kilograms per corner compared to the factory cast wheels, reducing unsprung and rotating mass at the four corners where it matters most for lap time: faster corner entry response, sharper mid-corner compliance, shorter braking distances, and quicker acceleration out of the corners. In a class decided by tenths, that is real lap time.
The Spec E46 ruleset specifies a 17-inch wheel requirement, which our wheels satisfy precisely. The 5x120 bolt pattern and 74.1-millimeter hub bore match the E46 328i exactly. The offset is measured on a real E46 328i with the Spec E46 suspension package, accounting for the race alignment settings, the camber plates, and the fender clearance at full compression with racing tires. The wheels clear the Spec E46-legal brake packages and sit flush within the fenders. No spacers. No rubbing. No clearance surprises on race day.
